Funny Cake Decorating Mistakesthanks for a Great Year in Purple
Whether the celebration is a birthday, a graduation, or another kind of special milestone in life, chances are there will be a cake involved because for some reason, practically everyone thinks that cakes are the go-to dessert for parties. Even though shows such as Ace of Cakes and Cupcake Wars give us the impression that the super tasty dessert is any party's crowning moment, the contrary may also be true. This list will show you how these people gave their family, their friends, and their co-workers some really bad cake creations that you have to see to believe. Some of the cakes are pretty funny, some are quite weird, and others you would like to unsee because they will just give you some pretty scary nightmares.
It's Better If English Class Continues
If you're planning to get a cake to mark the end of another school year, it may be wise to not only double or triple check, but to quadruple check the spelling of the words you include on the dessert. To be fair, this person didn't really say that he or she was celebrating the good grades he or she got in English class. The cake is a great lesson to make sure to double-check the things you bring to a big party, but we're actually hoping their English teacher wasn't invited or didn't come to their end-of-year gathering. As for this cake decorator, despite the fact that school is out for the summer, it may be time for him or her to go to summer school.
Here's What Taking Things Too Literal Looks Like
You would think that the cake decorator would understand what directions the buyer of the cake set out for him or her because the customer clearly wanted some stars and sprinkles to be actually on the dessert and not merely words written for all of us to see. This cake was probably the handiwork of a person who was trying to be funny or someone who just doesn't pay attention because he or she doesn't really like his or her job. For us, however, if we got this cake, we would think it is quite hilarious and wouldn't want to get any other dessert because it's so bad that it's actually good, you know? Whatever the reason behind the creation of this cake is, it's a great reminder that you should clearly outline specifically what you would like with your cake.
Are You Sure About That?
We don't know what "Rember" means, but if there's one thing we do know, it is that anyone who eats this cake won't ever forget it. Regardless, it is always a great idea to double check what you've done before you hand it in to any cake designer. If you've decided to make the cake yourself, just use Microsoft Word's spell check or take a few seconds to Google things to make sure that you send the message that you intend to deliver. However, in all honesty, the cake designer probably could not fit a two-letter addition in, in this situation, so it's maybe for the best that they misspelled "remember".
Proofreading Is Not Easy
This must be a joke because it seems like the cake was not only NOT proofread, but five out of seven words were spelled wrong – even simple and common words like happy, birthday, please, and cake. We're not great at math, but we think those are too many words to get wrong, which makes the cake look like a disaster. It's unfortunate since it's actually quite a cute princess cake, yet the message makes it seem like this princess is the ruler of a kingdom full of idiots who haven't taken any English classes before. If the princess were to kiss that frog, maybe he would transform into a professor of English and teach whoever was responsible for this cake how to write.
Is That A Cap Or A Cat?
Laura is graduating, which is wonderful news but is she wearing a graduation cat instead of a graduation cap? On the one hand, there was obviously some miscommunication between the cake designer and the buyer, but on the other, perhaps Laura really does love cats and this was her favorite cat. Unless of course she's a dog lover, then all bets are off. There are some cake mistakes that are absolutely horrible and need to be remedied, but this is actually quite a funny mistake which should be celebrated, even just for the absurdity of the final cake design.
What Honesty On A Cake Looks Like
You can be brutally honest when it comes to your cake messages, whether you're a friend who totally forgot about another friend's birthday, or a parent working long hours. This person was clearly not in the mood to bake a cake so this was whipped together quickly and shared the cake maker's point of view. It's no big deal because how a cake tastes is what's most important and not the way it looks, right? If you decorate a cake using fondant icing, the dessert may look beautiful, so this cake maker still went with the better option at least.
Hannah Montana: Small Head Edition
Miley Cyrus looks like she had a photo shoot in a mirror house, stopped for a bit to check out some of the distorted mirror displays, and then moved on. Despite the fact that there's nothing wrong with the fashion, the proportions in this Hannah Montana cake are just a little bit off. Either way, at its core, it's still a Hannah Montana cake, so we're sure that little nine-year-old Lara enjoyed her birthday cake a lot, and ate everything up. As for Miley Cyrus's paper face, we're hoping nobody tried gnawing it down because it clearly is a magazine cut out used to finish the design of this cake.
Are You Sure A Trekkie Designed This Cake?
Ah, yes the famous TV series Trek Stores and the Starship Enterprise…but wait. If the cake designer here watches Star Trek, he or she really needs to think through the writing on cakes he or she designs, or pay more attention to names. The actual Starship Enterprise NCC-1701 design looks great here but he or she obviously got the name wrong. This might be a new destroyer which has not yet been publicly released yet, though. Either way, just remember that Trekkies take the show really seriously, so don't give this cake to someone who spends time going to Star Trek conventions and many other gatherings because things won't end well.
Had Trouble Finding The Public Restroom, Woody?
When you are in the wilderness and you gotta go, you just go but Woody could've done it much better by not going everywhere. He's a toy who is super resourceful and for sure knows a lot better. This cake is perhaps the most disturbing on this list because it ruins a beloved childhood animated character and utterly destroys his wholesome image for us. What's more, toys don't poop if they're not given that function, so we're declaring this Woody cake as a load of B.S. and we're ridding our minds of it! Maybe we will try to resurrect this dessert when Toy Story 100 hits theaters – if that ever happens.
What Happened To Minnie Mouse?
It's been a really long time since Mickey and Minnie Mouse first entered the entertainment scene and apparently, they are starting to show their age — or at least Minnie is. This cake seems to have been heading in the right direction, but ultimately failed. Also, we are a bit confused by Minnie Mouse's Princess Leia inspired ears. Despite the fact that this cake is sort of a nightmare, we can still, at least, sort out what it is and if it tastes any good, then the trash is the last place you'll find this cake.
The Body Shop Should Be First In The Agenda
If you are a race car that competes in the largest racing events in the world, it's easy to become bent literally out of shape. It's pretty clear that an accident happened during the last race judging by the car's shape and look in this cake. Disney's Lightning McQueen has succeeding in pulling off some quite amazing turnarounds before, so we're hoping that he will be able to do the same this time around. Regardless, this non-professional cake decorator still deserves some credit for actually doing a great job despite what he or she was working with. We would still eat this cake and hope the cake designer does better the next time around.
Is This Supposed To Be A Porcupine?
We're pretty sure this mutant porcupine cake was originally intended to be just a regular porcupine cake until something horribly wrong happened during the process of baking. To be honest, this creation looks like a person opened a can of spam, put it on a platter, tried to form it into a porcupine, and then decided to add some quills using pretzel rods. We don't know why but this person also thought of adding some strange large teeth for good measure, so you now have on your hands a cake that looks like it came out of a really awful straight-to-DVD horror movie. We don't know if anyone would be willing to try this cake but we're sure it would serve as an effective warning for people NOT to try baking something like this for special people in their lives.
Thomas The Angry Tank Engine
Thomas the Tank Engine will kill you while you are sleeping kid! At least, that's what we think this really pissed off cake wants to say to a little three-year-old train enthusiast. Thankfully, this child is just turning one and most likely has no clue what Thomas' issue is in this birthday cake creation but why the kid's parents chose to make a really angry cake is anybody's guess. Maybe Thomas is pissed off with the insufficient funding railroads are getting these days, or perhaps he just doesn't like the idea of being eaten by a group of little kids who'll probably freak out as soon as they realize they played a part in killing and eating their favorite living Tank Engine.
Just Imagine This Was A Planet
In case you hadn't noticed, this cake does kind of look like Saturn or Jupiter if the planets were hit with a ton of asteroids or attacked continuously with alien weapon technology. This is another exceptional reminder that not everybody is an artist, so people should leave cake decorating to the professionals. Regardless, it all boils down to the taste of the cake, so perhaps this wasn't an entire loss in spite of the horrible product design. Would you try this cake or leave it for others to eat?
What Is This Monkey Doing?!
This cake's actual design is beautiful, from the writing on the platform of the cake to our animal friend's friendly face. The cake designer clearly made an effort in planning his or her creations, but the monkey's pose is very curious and the banana is at a naughty-looking place. We definitely prefer this action to a monkey flinging poop at onlookers because at least this is incredibly easy to fix and can be remedied by just taking the banana out of the monkey's hand. We'd probably just let the banana be and make a lot of jokes.
Bob The Builder Should Worry About His Safety
Oh my god, could someone help and rescue Bob the Builder? He may seem happy in this picture, flashing us a bright smile but he is covered in a massive heap of collapsed bricks, so he may be in shock or he probably planned his own death. We're not even sure if that pile he is trapped under is edible, because it seems almost as if the cake maker just decided to throw ground beef on some flat surface, then call this creation a cake. It looks rather unappetizing, plus Bob looks plastic, which makes this cake simply an all-around fail on so many levels.
Can Someone Tell Us What Spider-Man Is Doing?
Spider-Man looks like he is either coming out of the womb or someone is shoving him into a trash bag. Perhaps this cake was for a huge Spider-Man fan's rebirthing ceremony and he absolutely couldn't go through with it if his favorite superhero didn't come to the event. We've tried to recall every Spidey comic in order to understand what inspired this cake creation and we have absolutely nothing. Actually, the Spider-Man design looks great, but the objects around him do not make sense at all, so if there's anyone out there who has an idea why Spider-Man is posed in such a way and has a trash bag, we would really like to hear what you have to say.
We're Afraid Ariel Hasn't Been Herself Lately
Disney literally hires quite a few of the best-known and most well-respected cartoonists in the industry to draw Disney's cartoons. With Ariel being one of Disney's most recognizable princesses, why someone thought it would be easy to turn Ariel into some cake without being trained for the task is beyond us. Needless to say, the end result is unrecognizable. Nevertheless, the cake has at least some good color depth, even if the colors are totally off from the clothing choices and skin tone of the Disney-created character. In all honesty, if you compare this cake to cartoons that are digitally created these days, it isn't really very disappointing when juxtaposed to the original film.
A Colorful Sweet Surprise?
It may not be so colorful, but it's most likely sweet and probably came as a surprise to whoever ordered this cake. Even though the directions were pretty clear, the cake decorator apparently took things a bit too literally again and wrote the complete instructions on the cake! If you haven't figured it out, the customer actually requested to have the message, "Thanks For A Great Year," in purple icing, and funny enough, the decorator decided to make the word "Purple" the biggest on the cake! Well, the purple sprinkles do give the cake some pizzaz at least.
Are You Sure That's The Message You Want To Send?
This is a cake that is almost perfect – emphasis on almost – because whoever is responsible for putting this message on the cake got things absolutely wrong. Whether or not the cake decorator misheard the customer during their conversation about what to write on the cake, we are quite sure this was originally intended to be someone's birthday cake. "Happy Bathday" practically implies that whomever this cake was for needs a bath, and that is definitely an insult. On the other hand, we're pretty sure that upon seeing this cake, the recipient just found it amusing and we hope he or she is good humored and knows not to take stuff too seriously.
A Tad Too Repetitive
The person who ordered this cake may have been a bit indecisive when thinking about the heartfelt message to write on the cake. In the end, a simple "Happy Birthday" was what the person went with, but we imagine the customer being asked what he or she would like to be written on the dessert and responding with this, "Happy Birthday… (pauses to think) …just happy birthday." He or she most likely just wanted one "Happy Birthday" but again, the cake decorator took things too literally. Of course, we are starting to think these cake designers are intentionally doing this.
It Might Be Buzz Lightyear
This cake was really close because the person who made it had a wonderful idea, but perhaps he or she was a bit too ambitious and overestimated his or her skill set. We are aware that the cake was originally intended to be Buzz's head, but obviously, it didn't really end up that way and instead, looks like some creepy man who is sporting a powder wig. Maybe it would have worked if they had said this cake was a futuristic George Washington or if they added the purple head cap that Buzz Lightyear wears, which seems to have been forgotten. Regardless, we give this cake creation an A for effort.
The Truth Cake
Looks like the person who ordered this cake got his or her true feelings across to Matt. This cake suggests that the customer asked the bakery to put "Happy Birthday Dick" on it when the dessert was being ordered, but we know the customer changed his mind since Dick is not the actual name of his friend. Needless to say, the sense of humor this customer has isn't that bad since the cake designer even wrote out his or her laugh, so we're not quite sure just who failed here, the designer or the customer. Now that we have given this cake a better look, we'd say the decorator since he was specifically told not to.
Adam And The Blue Flowers
Yet another cake that didn't quite end up flawless due to the bakery clearly misinterpreting the instructions for making the dessert. The customer obviously requested for blue icing flowers on the cake, which the decorator clearly understood, but the designer went a step further and wrote the actual request of the customer on the cake. Why the decorator did that is anyone's guess, but this cake now looks like it is for Adam who specifically has blue flowers. This cake might be perfect if there is a person named Adam known for possessing blue flowers, but in any case, we still hope Adam without blue flowers enjoyed his cake.
This Carrot Cake Takes The Cake
This cake only adds to the growing list of desserts which should be called disappointment cakes. Seriously, we wonder what goes through the minds of these cake decorators when fulfilling these requests?! Based on what can be read on this cake, the decorator was supposed to write "Marc" instead of "Mark", but he or she decided to take it a step further with "Mark with a Sea." Unless the name of this cake's recipient is Mark and he is in possession of a real body of water, then we guess this cake would not be actually wrong, but we still hope that Mark's "brithday" was a happy one.
Say What?!?
Even though we have a lot of questions for the decorator of this cake, we will just ask one: WHAT? If you try to come up with a possible explanation for what happened here, you will realize that there are just so many possibilities, like the customer might not know how to speak or spell properly, which if that were the case, we won't really fault them since they clearly meant well. On the other hand, the cake decorator didn't even do anything to help this cake make sense! Sure, the cake designer was just following instructions, but why did he or she write the words that way?
Why Does Justin Look Like That?
Yes, we too did a double take when we saw this cake. Upon closer inspection, you would realize this cake made of meat is modeled after Justin Bieber himself, and features a face made entirely of ground beef and perfectly sculpted to copy Justin Bieber. The star's quite recognizable mop of hair (which he sported when he was younger) is perfectly swept over and made of bacon. The recipient of this cake is obviously a big Bieber fan and most likely a big fan of meat as well because he or she requested a meat cake (sounds like a meatloaf to us) instead of the regular variety.
What Pet Did You Say Mary Had Again?
The first picture shows a lamb cake which doesn't only look like a perfect addition to the next Easter party you organize but is also so good that the people who created the cake in the second photo got inspired and felt the need to try and recreate the first cake themselves. Of course, the operative word is try because rather than getting a cute little lamb, the second animal cake looks shocked and scared. If anything, the cake seems more like a miserable cat who was forced to take a bath. The cake probably tastes better than it looks, and at least the person who made it seems to have tried his or her best.
This Was So Easy To Fix
This cookie cake had been ordered to welcome the year 2010, yet the person who made it was looking really far into the future. Even though the balloons on this cake were meant to have one number each to show the year 2010, the decorator sort of messed things up and placed a 10 on the fourth balloon, making it look like they were ringing in the year 20010. What we don't get, though, is why no one scraped numbers off the third and fourth balloons and added the numbers that need to be added. This was so easy to remedy and whoever bought this cake would not have been embarrassed to bring it to a New Year's party.
A Gardener's Dream Cake
This cake will surely piss off the new bride who ordered it for her wedding. The cake designer really needs to do a spellcheck before he or she goes ahead and writes messages on cakes because this beautiful wedding cake would've been really perfect, except that instead of "wedding" it says "weeding," which is quite awkward. The person who got this cake most likely had to get a new one that has the correct spelling and if he or she did, we hope his or her gardener got this cake since that would be quite funny! If you are buying a wedding cake, you should really go to a professional rather than the grocery store because this cake probably came from there.
An All-Around Super Bowl Fail
A lot can be said about the cake in this picture, but we'll say only one thing: FAIL. This cupcake cake was clearly made for an overzealous 49ers fan, but he or she was most likely disappointed upon receiving it because he or she obviously wanted a cake that resembles a foam finger making a number one. However, what he or she got was a hand with six fingers and what was meant to be an extended index finger looks more like some obscene gesture to us. What's more, this dessert is a fail because the 49ers have not been Super Bowl champions since the year 1994, which is like more than two decades ago.
A Mistake That Is Endearing
First of all, people who hire cake decorators have to make certain that the designers have nice penmanship because as you can see here, the message is clean and clear yet the handwriting that is on the cake looks a bit unprofessional. Secondly, it should be made certain that cake designers know how to follow directions because this cake is yet another classic example of what happens when things are taken too literally. This cake is probably only meant to have "We will miss you" on it, but at least there are no spelling errors on the dessert. But still, the message now sounds like it was only an afterthought.
This Takes The Cake For Brutal Honesty
This cake is regarded as a fail due to the fact that the message on it is a bit mean, but in this aspect, it is also kind of a win since it is quite honest. Even though there aren't any spelling errors on the dessert, you can see it is homemade and that the person who made it is most likely a very honest and frank person. He or she doesn't mess around nor avoid speaking the truth, so if this person said he or she doesn't like you, the person doesn't exactly hate you but just tolerates you. However, you best believe this person most likely won't stand for your nonsense.
Just Get To The Point Already!
The message this cookie cake wanted to get across is something we can completely get behind because the person who ordered this obviously didn't want to waste time messing around with cute messages and pleasantries, and was only there for M&Ms and chocolate, basically what all of us have been thinking, so why the designer went a step further and actually wrote that on the dessert is beyond us. What's funny is that the decorator actually wrote on the cake what the customer probably said. Well, of course, we think that the person who bought this got what he or she asked for. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed this dessert and it was worth their money because aside from the honest statement, the cookie cake actually looks well decorated!
Whatever Happened To Plain, Happy Cakes
This cake was probably ordered for someone's baby shower… but were they also planning for an almost funeral? The person who ordered this could have just stopped at "Preparing for A New Life" and requested the whole cake be pink with the 3D ultrasound photo but no, they had to go a step further and remind everyone of their own mortality. Although it is a fact that death is in opposition to a new life, no one really wants to hear that when people are expecting to welcome a little angel. We're not really saying anything about the 3D ultrasound picture on the cake that is a bit jarring, though we kind of just did, since the macabre of this cake's right side definitely takes away from it.
Would You Really Want To Dream About This Sheep?
Judging by the bunny ears that the sheep is sporting, this cake was obviously meant for a party at Easter, but our biggest concern about this dessert is that the sheep actually looks really terrifying. Even though it looks like the model used for this sheep was Serta mattresses mascot sheep, we think that the person who made this cake may have taken the details a bit too far. This person is definitely talented, yes, but let's just all agree that the face of the sheep is beyond creepy. This poor sheep cake seems to be laughing maniacally as it is about to eat your brains out.
There's A Reason Why There Are Professionals For This
Obviously, this a cake inspired by the Despicable Me franchise and was supposed to be a Minion, the little yellow guys that mumble nonsense and kids love, but are we sure that the child who received this cake wasn't impressed. Even though the Minions are already quite creepy, this cake has definitely gone into nightmare territory. The person who made this cake most likely gave it his or her all, so we'll give him or her credit for that, but all that extra work could have been avoided if he or she dished out a bit of cash to have a professional make the cake and it would have come out looking a little more accurate.
Are Halloween Cakes A Thing Now?
This cake is just utterly hilarious because whoever ordered this cake had been clear about what he or she wanted to have on the cake, yet he or she still ended up not getting it. First of all, the instructions were written word for word – well, kind of – and we're pretty sure the customer wanted "ghosts", not "goats." On the plus side, the decorator followed instructions and added the requested decor on the cake – well, sort of – because not only are there goats, but there is also one Toy Story alien in place of a goblin. What the decorator didn't mess up, however, is the "booze," which is likely the most important thing.
Quite An Informative Cake
There are a couple of things wrong here. To start with, this cake is for a baby shower and that usually means blue or pink tiny baby booties and little cradles but they may not have known the baby's sex yet and decided to go with a rainbow design, so that's okay. On the other hand, the message on this cake is a bit weird because adults know how a baby is made, so there's no need to spell it out for them, but if any kids attended the shower, how would this cake be explained to them? They're probably not at the right age yet to know more about how babies are made.
Doesn't Seem That Dedicated
We get that spelling is hard…if you're a five-year-old, but we don't think this cake was decorated by a kindergartner. Cake shops should probably make prospective employees take a spelling exam prior to being hired because the person who created this masterpiece probably did not finish eighth grade. However, we should give credit where credit is due, so we acknowledge the proper spelling of the word 'your' because it could have been worse if 'you're' had been written on this cake. Nevertheless, the word 'dedication' was completely messed up as it does not have 'dead' in it, but hopefully the recipient had a good laugh from the whole thing.
A Breakdown In Communication
We think we know what happened here. Two cupcake cakes were ordered and the customer instructed the designer to write, 'Happy Birthday' on both cakes, but there was some miscommunication and the person who decorated these cakes went on to write the message 'Happy Birthday On Both' on each cake. We wonder if the employee didn't find the instructions a little strange or if he or she didn't think to check again with the customer to ensure the correct message would be written. This leads us to wonder how these people were hired.
Are You Sure This Cake Is Spider-Man Inspired?
Okay, this is one giant fail because while we understand that it's probably a bit difficult to make a Spider-Man cake for amateur cake designers, this person seems like he or she put in very little effort. Even though the cake's basic shape is correct, when it was time to decorate it, they just completely gave up. Only a single color of frosting was used, so there's not much effort there, and after outlining Spider-Man's eyes and arms, the person stopped, so no 'A' for effort there either. This cake maker deserves an 'F' because there wasn't even any blue added and the webbing wasn't even outlined a little.
Sorry But The Designer You Got Wasn't A Valedictorian
This is actually quite humorous because we don't really know what 'Valid Victorian' actually means but the cake designer probably thought the recipient of the dessert was a Victorian era fan and would like to feel valid. Perhaps 'valedictorian' was a word that the cake designer had never heard of, and we agree that it is a bit hard to spell. What's more, if you're in the middle of designing a cake, and you are accustomed to your phone's spell check, getting things exactly right can be difficult. However, we wonder if the cake designer didn't realize that the phrase he or she was writing didn't make sense at all.
Unicorns Do Not Exist
You have to wonder, why would someone request for an image of a unicorn to be added on a cake that is for a person who is turning 35? It might have been a joke, but of course, there's the person who absolutely didn't understand the customer's instructions. Even though the cake decorator (presumably) got the right age, he or she completely missed the boat with regard to the unicorn, because instead of just writing 'Can you draw a unicorn?' on the dessert, they should have drawn an actual unicorn on this cake! We wonder if this cake's designer did a face palm after he or she realized what he or she did.
Thanks A Lot.
This is harsh and you can't really blame the cake decorator for this one since the message is quite clear: 'Congrats Eric at being a failure at Life' (with a frown). First, we wonder what Eric actually did to get this cake. Maybe he carried out a crime and the cake is his last before going to prison or maybe he wasn't faithful to his girlfriend, whom his family quite adored or maybe he stopped going to school. Whatever Eric did, it must have been really bad because it warranted this kind of cake with a really special message directed specifically at him, but regardless, we still feel a bit sorry for Eric.
Isn't This TMI?
We don't really know why the customer requested big purple balls to be added on the cake to celebrate Coach Tom because we don't know of any sport that uses purple balls. Maybe Coach Tom teaches racquetball or maybe he is a dodgeball professional, but either way, the message was clearly lost on the cake shop employees. On the other hand, you have to wonder why in the world they thought the customer would like the cake to have the message: 'Coach Tom's Big Purple Balls!' but now that we've thought about it, perhaps Coach Tom's team is actually called Big Purple Balls. Even though that seems a bit strange, it could still be true, but we wouldn't want that to be the case for the team.
Celebrating An Accident
The person who ordered this cake (and/or designed it) has a twisted sense of humor but we think it's awesome because we can't think of anything better than a cake to celebrate a digit amputation. According to this cake, the recipient got in trouble with a lawnmower and somehow his hand got stuck (probably) in the blades. We all know you shouldn't try to fix a lawnmower if it's running, but the cake recipient clearly didn't follow what's commonly known, so a part of his or her finger got chopped off accidentally in the process. A photo tells a thousand words and so does this interesting cake.
Too Realistic To Eat
The Reddi-wip we saw in the background told us this wasn't a real litter box, but the person who came up with the idea for this cake was really clever (if a tad twisted) because this just looks gross. First, the decorator placed the cake inside a container which was lined with some kitchen garbage bag — a thing you'd use for a real litter box. What's more, the poop looks like actual cat poop and the blue scoop increases the realism. We're giving this cake decorator, apparently named Murray, 100 points for thinking of a really creative cake, but we wonder what Matt's opinion of the creation is.
What Does This Mean Exactly?
And we have this again. The cake store (presumably a chain supermarket) got a cake order for someone named Suzanne and it seems to be a cake for her going away, but there was some miscommunication and the decorator decide to write this instead: 'Best Wishes Suzanne Under Neat That We Will Miss You.' To start with, 'underneath' is just one word, and the last letter is an H, and why would a customer ask to add the phrase 'underneath that' on the cake? This clearly shows that the decorator didn't think things through and didn't use his or her head when taking the customer's order.
You DID NOT Just Say That!
We wonder who could have made this kind of mistake because this cake has 'Happy 31rd Birthday Jessica' on it instead of 'Happy 31st Birthday Jessica,' which is really depressing to look at. We are sure that even a child who is five years old would not make this type of mistake, so we'd like to believe this was a joke. This is just really bizarre because if you try saying '31rd' out loud, you will see that it is, in fact, physically hard to do. If it's impossible to say, then perhaps you shouldn't write it and you should probably double check the message.
The Designer With Some Self-Esteem Issues
This cake is clearly homemade, but we don't really agree with its message: "Eat me. I'm Ugly" because we don't think this cake is very ugly. While it's not a very interesting cake, we've definitely encountered other cakes that are less pretty. The person who made this cake may have self-esteem issues or doesn't really like baking that much or has made better cakes before, and this one didn't turn out so well. Whatever the case may be, it doesn't really matter because as long as the cake tastes good, the outside appearance is not that important and hopefully, the recipient of this cake didn't have any problem with it.
That Degree Might Get Revoked
This is a bad cake for a number of reasons. To start with, it seems that the decorator made this cake for himself with the message that reads: "My Graduaccion God Bless You," which anyone graduating from school should know the correct spelling of. It's not obvious how old the decorator of this cake is, but this person is clearly old enough to put some piping on a cake. Second, there seems to be some space in the middle of the word "God", so that means the cake decorator does not know how to spell the Almighty's name, which just makes us say, "Oh, boy."
The Cake That Is Quite The Head Scratcher
This cake is really a head scratcher because the message on it reads: 'Fill With 18 Dots/ Periods Fallowing.' The cake decorator probably had no idea what he or she was doing because 'fallowing' means plowing land but not seeding it. We're quite sure that is not what the customer requested and we think the original message was longer and probably made sense. We believe a phrase like "Happy 18th Birthday" or "We'll Miss You" or "Good luck in college," most likely was supposed to precede the message, which would then be followed by eighteen dots, but the whole thing just confuses us a lot.
Why Ruin Such A Nice Cake?
A lot of people know that the city of Chicago is sometimes called the Windy City. It could be due to the weather in the city or the fact that many politicians in the past were 'full of hot air', but it's clear that the person who designed this cake doesn't know these facts. What's sad about this is that the writing on the cake is really nice. If only the designer had understood the instructions, this probably would've ended up a rather nice cake, but instead, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Does The Baby Really Look Like That?
We actually feel bad for little Tristan because he will be very sad if this is the kind of cakes he will be receiving in the future. Even though the cake generally looks pretty good, the depiction of the baby is a little disturbing since the image doesn't look like a cute baby and instead looks like some kind of monster with a diaper on. We're actually quite curious what the new mother thought of this cake. We're sure she didn't squeal with delight upon seeing this but she was probably polite and had a piece of the cake despite it being creepy.
Why Would Anyone Do This?
There isn't much good going on here because the decorator only got one thing right and that is the green field, but the rest of the cake is pretty terrible. To start with, the obvious misspelling of "Super Bowl," which became "Super Bowel" on the cake is awful (it's never a good thing to think about our bowels, especially right before having some cake). In addition, the colors used on the cake aren't really good and they're actually downright unappetizing. This dessert does not really look edible and even if the decorator did try to create a football at the upper right corner, that also didn't come out well.
You Go Girl!
This cake is just awesome. First, we have to give a shout out to little Sarah who clearly loves playing with traditional boy toys as well as traditional girl toys, which means this super cool six-year-old is not just butterflies and pink flowers! We love the fact that Darth Vader is on the back of My Little Pony and that the cake also has a rainbow and some flowers on its border. More often than not, little girls end up receiving very feminine cakes that have polka dots and ribbons and really stereotypical designs. Needless to say, Sarah isn't that type of girl because she adores Star Wars, which is great, AND she also enjoys playing with toy horses – definitely a great combo!
A Sick Sense Of Humor
We haven't really made up our minds yet whether this cake is funny or disturbing but one thing is certain, the newlyweds definitely have a twisted sense of humor! This cake features a pair of severed heads with blood gushing from the necks and has 'Till death do us part' written on it. The designer deserves to get some credit for the creativity shown here because the faces are pretty realistic but most people probably wouldn't want this kind of cake at their own wedding. Even if the cake tastes delicious, it would still be a bit strange to eat someone's face, but that's just us.
He Looks Familiar. Where Have I Seen Him Before?
Cookie Monster isn't really a character that is hard to draw or make into a cake. Basically, he is a monster that is big and blue and has a pair of googly eyes and a large mouth for shoving a whole lot of cookies into, but he has hair and he's also a really distinct shade of blue, not really shiny and flat. In addition, his pupils are black, not brown. Ultimately, the person who made this cake isn't the the cake decorating Leonardo Da Vinci but with a bit of training, he or she could actually turn out to be really talented in making wonderful homemade cake designs we would be glad to show off.
Are They Doing What We Think They're Doing?
Imagine some people gathered together in order to watch the UFC fight which they pitched in to purchase and watch at a friend's house. One person got so excited about it, that he or she decided to get a themed cake for the occasion. This cake certainly looks like it was done by a professional because the octagon is cleverly made with what seems to be bars of Twix cut in half, plus the colors look really great. However, if you look at the pair of icing figures fighting more closely, the guys seem to be in quite a compromising position, and we're quite sure we have not seen that technique in the UFC.
Expectation VS. Reality
Mom blogger Jo Lynne Shane is another mom who just wanted to create an awesome homemade cake for her daughter's birthday, so she browsed through Pinterest for some cake with The Little Mermaid's Ariel, came up with a plan, and bought the ingredients. While she was baking the cake, she referenced the Pinterest picture she was trying to replicate, but the first cake had been a fail, so she made another. However, when time came for standing the doll up, she just wasn't having any luck, so the doll can be seen swimming in some pool of icing instead. On the plus side, her daughter absolutely loved the cake.
The Saddest Looking Cat Ever
To start with, have a look at this cake's ingredients. The saddest cat cake you have ever seen has unknown cookies for eyes, Saltine crackers for ears, a cherry tomato for its nose and candy canes for whiskers. It definitely looks like the cake maker went around the pantry and used anything he or she could find. Hopefully, it was children who made this cake because Saltine crackers are simply the worst cake ingredient ever and it appears as if the frosting was put on before the cake completely cooled down, which resulted in this rather big mess.
When A Rainbow Gives Up On Life
Ah yes, the year 2017 was big for rainbow drinks and food, with Starbucks' Unicorn drinks, rainbow grilled cheese, rainbow bagels – people badly wanted all rainbow everything. This cake maker came up with the idea of making a lovely rainbow cake, and probably bragged about his or her creation on social media using some rainbow tags. However, this cake seems as if it used to be just one color before it rotted into another. Either way, we applaud their decision to still take a photo and post it online.
Whose Idea Was This?
This has got to be the creepiest, grossest wedding cake ever because not only does it have a lot of severed fingers on it, there are also rats, eyeballs, and blood icing spread all over it. A cake which says 'death' perhaps should not be eaten. This seems to be a cake for a couple's wedding and the pair has a really morbid sense of humor and seeing that it is a three-tier cake, this joke wasn't cheap. We're wondering if the wedding guests chose to try it but we guess you'd have to be quite starving (nearing death) to willingly cut into some cake that has severed ears and actually eat it.
It's Hard To Have It All
Everyone wishes to be both good looking and smart, but let's be honest, it's really difficult to have everything, which is what this cake implies. Whoever made this cake did an awesome job making a cake which is even in length and size, with the perfect amount of frosting and adorable babies' shoes which are done really well. On the other hand, this cake sadly became a massive fail when the lettering was added to it. Let's just hope the first person who cut into this cake made a massive hole and removed this message.
Is This Supposed To Be A Super Nintendo Cake?
Even though some might think this was really close, this cake still ended up on the list of fails, like the others. As you can see, the baker made or found the perfect gray-colored frosting to match that of Super Nintendo game consoles and controllers. However, we don't know what happened here. Maybe this person wanted the whole cake to look like the controller, but then the idea got lost.
The Passive Aggressive Cake
This cake seems to be for a coworker who is leaving a company. Judging by this cake's attitude, the company isn't really thrilled that their worker decided to leave. And similar to what happens during a break-up with a bitter ex, he or she decided to give the other person a guilt trip using a rather passive-aggressive send-off cake. We can just imagine how the person doing the writing must have tried really hard not to laugh while filling the request.
What Gender Did You Say It Was?
A gender reveal party is a fun event for family and friends to come together and find out if the expecting couple is going to have a girl or a boy. Often times, the doctor writes the information on a bit of paper, which is then passed on to the maker of the cake, but nobody at the party has any idea what the baby's gender is before the big reveal. It's obvious nobody peeked at the cake prior to leaving the bakery, since one of the words, which is actually the most important one on the cake, is spelled incorrectly. You can imagine that the cake box was thrown open and everyone was eagerly looking on, only to see that "It's a Gril!"
The Language Cake Fail
It's possible that some bakers don't really have access to computers at the usual bakery or that they don't have resources or time to look up some special requests to translate language, so it's better if you don't ask for it. If you do decide to ask for it, you shouldn't be surprised to get something like this smart cake, with a similar message to this one. We're placing the blame on whoever ordered this cake, because honestly, there aren't a lot of people who know what "Happy Birthday" is in French. And if you really want to have your cake read that, then you should look it up yourself.
Chicken Little Or Hello Kitty?
When we first saw this, we thought this cake was Chicken Little inspired, but then we found out it was originally meant to be Hello Kitty. Even though this cake's idea wasn't bad, it still needed a real artistic touch in order to succeed. This dessert teaches us a great lesson about how the best intentions can still lead to pretty funny results, so if you aren't a professional cake designer or you don't have the ability to draw, you'll probably create the next massive cake fail. Let this remind you that making a cake simply based on a photo you've seen or some Pinterest board probably is not going to end well for you or your cake creation.
